Systematic position: Tetranychus ludeni is a member of the Tetranychidae family, within the order Trombidiformes. It is a highly polyphagous mite species, recognized globally as a significant agricultural pest that thrives in warm and temperate climates.

Host plants: This mite demonstrates a broad host range, attacking numerous economically important crops. It frequently infests vegetables such as tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as beans, ornamentals, and various species of weeds that act as alternate hosts during the off-season.

Biology and life cycle: The lifecycle progresses through the egg, larva, protonymph, deutonymph, and adult stages. Under optimal high-temperature conditions, development is rapid, allowing for multiple generations within a single season. The mites typically concentrate on the underside of leaves, where they build fine silk webbing to protect their colony.

Damage and harmfulness: The mites feed by piercing the plant cell walls and sucking the contents. Initial damage appears as chlorotic stippling on the leaves, which eventually leads to leaf bronzing, senescence, and defoliation. High infestations significantly reduce the plant's photosynthetic capacity, resulting in stunted growth and heavy yield losses.

Control measures: Management of this pest requires a strategic approach to maintain populations below the economic injury level:
