Description

Systematic position: The long-horned bostrichid (Tetrapriocera longicornis) is a member of the order Coleoptera and belongs to the family Bostrichidae. These beetles, commonly referred to as auger beetles or false powderpost beetles, are recognized for their specialized adaptation to boring into wood.

Affected crops: This pest primarily targets various tree species, particularly those in warmer climates. It is frequently associated with damaged or stressed fruit trees, timber plantations, and ornamental woody plants. The pest is also known to infest stored lumber, causing degradation of the wood quality.

Biology and lifecycle: The lifecycle of Tetrapriocera longicornis is completed within the woody host. Females bore into the bark to deposit eggs.
