Tricentrus is a genus of insects belonging to the family Membracidae, commonly known as treehoppers. These insects are easily identifiable by their enlarged pronotum, which often extends over the abdomen and mimics thorns or other plant structures, serving as an effective camouflage against potential predators in their natural habitats.

These pests primarily target a variety of woody plants, including commercial fruit crops such as citrus, apples, and various ornamental shrubs. They are particularly attracted to tender shoots and young branches where the plant sap is most accessible, making saplings and newly grafted trees highly susceptible to infestation.
