The linden psyllid (lat. Trioza tiliacora) is a small insect belonging to the order Hemiptera and the family Triozidae. This highly specialized pest is primarily associated with linden trees (Tilia species), where it establishes its colonies and completes its developmental life cycle.
This insect specifically targets various species of linden, commonly found in urban parks, forests, and ornamental gardens. The damage is most severe on young shoots and expanding leaves during the spring, which can stunt the growth of young saplings and ornamental landscape trees.
The biological cycle of Trioza tiliacora is synchronized with the host plant's phenology. Adults overwinter in sheltered locations, such as bark crevices or dry foliage. As the linden buds open, the females lay eggs on the newly emerging leaves, marking the start of the next generation.
