The life cycle of this mite is closely synchronized with the development of the host plant. They typically overwinter within the protective scales of buds or dormant shoot tissues. As soon as temperatures rise in the spring, the mites emerge to feed on developing tissues, quickly establishing multiple generations throughout the growing season.
