Venturia canescens is a species of parasitic wasp belonging to the family Ichneumonidae. It is widely known in entomology as an endoparasitoid that targets the larvae of various moth species, most notably the Mediterranean flour moth and other stored-product pests found in grain silos and mills.

Taxonomically, this insect is placed in the order Hymenoptera. Unlike herbivorous pests that feed directly on crops, Venturia canescens follows a predatory strategy, regulating the populations of moths that actually cause the primary damage to stored foodstuffs, making its ecological role quite specific.

The life cycle begins when the female wasp locates a host larva and injects an egg into its hemocoel. Key strategies include temperature control to slow down moth development, maintaining high sanitation standards to prevent host infestation, and employing physical barriers such as fine-mesh screens on ventilation systems to keep adult wasps out.
