Zelus peregrinus is a species of insect belonging to the family Reduviidae, commonly known as assassin bugs. While many members of this group are predatory, this specific species is recognized in agricultural contexts for its potential to cause damage to cultivated plants through feeding activities or oviposition, leading to reduced yield and plant health.

This pest affects a variety of host crops, including orchard trees, soft fruits, and various vegetable plants. It primarily targets young, succulent tissues such as emerging leaves, buds, and stems. By inserting its mouthparts into the plant tissue, it extracts sap, which causes physiological stress to the affected plants.

The life cycle involves incomplete metamorphosis, consisting of egg, nymphal stages, and adult phases.
