The mechanism of action involves the hydrolysis of the compound when applied to moist soil. This chemical process releases intermediate products that are toxic to germinating weed seeds, soil-borne fungi, and larvae of various pests. Over time, the substance breaks down into urea and subsequently ammonia, contributing to the overall nitrogen supply in the soil.
