Cycloate

Cycloate belongs to the thiocarbamate chemical class and is a highly effective selective soil-applied herbicide. The product is intended for the systematic control of a wide range of annual grasses and certain broad-leaved weeds that compete with crops during the early stages of development.

The mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of meristematic tissue growth in weeds. Cycloate blocks the biosynthesis of lipids and proteins, leading to disrupted cell division and the death of seedlings even before they emerge from the soil or at the 'spike' stage.

The primary use of Cycloate is in sugar, fodder, and table beet crops. The active ingredient shows high activity against troublesome weeds such as barnyard grass, foxtail, millet, as well as several species of lambsquarters and knotweed.

A key feature of Cycloate application is the requirement for immediate soil incorporation at a depth of 5–8 cm right after application. This is due to the high volatility of the substance: without immediate incorporation, the herbicide rapidly evaporates under sunlight and loses its biological efficacy.

When handling this pesticide, it is crucial to follow safety measures: use personal protective equipment, prevent the product from entering water bodies, and adhere to crop rotation regulations. Application on soils with high organic matter content is not recommended, as it significantly reduces herbicidal activity.
