Description

Diphenamid is a selective systemic herbicide belonging to the amide chemical class. It is primarily used as a pre-emergence treatment to control various annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds. By creating a protective barrier in the topsoil, it effectively suppresses weed germination before they become established competitors for the primary crop.

The mode of action of diphenamid involves the inhibition of cell division within the meristematic tissues of weed seedlings. Once absorbed by the root system of germinating weeds, it disrupts normal growth processes, causing the roots and shoots to wither. This physiological effect ensures that sensitive weed species are eliminated at the earliest stages of their life cycle.

This active ingredient is commonly applied in the cultivation of several high-value crops, including tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and tobacco.
