Iprodione

Description

Iprodione is a highly effective active ingredient belonging to the dicarboximide chemical class. It is widely used in agriculture as a contact fungicide with strong protective and curative properties. The preparation blocks spore germination processes and the development of pathogen mycelium, preventing further infection of healthy plant tissues.

The mechanism of action of iprodione involves the inhibition of nucleic acid and protein synthesis within fungal cells, leading to the disruption of normal cell division and the death of the pathogen. Due to its specific nature, it rarely induces resistance in disease-causing agents, making it a valuable component in integrated pest management programs.

This substance is used on a wide range of crops, including vegetables, fruits, vineyards, and ornamental plants. Its primary application field is the control of dangerous diseases such as gray mold (Botrytis), white mold (Sclerotinia), brown rot (Monilinia), and Rhizoctonia. Iprodione demonstrates high efficacy even in conditions with high infection pressure.

When using iprodione-based fungicides, it is essential to consider the growth stages of the crop. Treatments are carried out preventively or upon the first signs of disease symptoms. The product possesses excellent adhesion and resistance to rain wash-off, which ensures a long period of protective action on the treated surface.

Regarding safety, iprodione is moderately toxic to warm-blooded animals and requires strict adherence to regulations. When handling the product, it is necessary to use personal protective equipment for the skin and respiratory tract. It is crucial to avoid environmental contamination, specifically water sources, and to observe pre-harvest intervals as specified in the product label.
