Tralkoxydim is an active ingredient classified within the cyclohexanedione chemical family. It functions as a selective, systemic post-emergence herbicide primarily utilized to control annual grass weeds in cereal production systems.

The mode of action involves the inhibition of the acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) enzyme in susceptible plants. By disrupting this essential enzyme, the herbicide halts fatty acid synthesis, ultimately causing the destruction of cellular membranes and ensuring the death of the weed species.

This substance is mainly registered for use in wheat, barley, and oat crops. It provides excellent control over a variety of economically significant grass weeds, including wild oats, black-grass, annual meadow grass, and various barnyard grass species, which compete with crops for critical field resources.

Key application features require precise timing to coincide with the early growth stages of target weeds, specifically from the two-leaf stage to early tillering. It is highly recommended to use appropriate surfactants to enhance the uptake of the active ingredient through the leaf cuticle for maximum herbicidal efficacy.
