Section control

A precision farming technology that automatically shuts off individual sprayer or planter sections to prevent overlaps in areas already covered.

Также говорят: automatic section control, row shut-off, boom section control

Section control relies on a GNSS receiver and an integrated controller that tracks the implement's path in real-time. By comparing the current location with the map of previously covered ground, the system switches off specific nozzles or seed meters, ensuring precise application coverage.

The primary benefit is the significant reduction in input wastage during headland turns and when maneuvering in irregularly shaped fields. By preventing double application, the technology protects crops from potential chemical burns or excessive competition for nutrients due to overseeding.

A common mistake is the failure to adjust the look-ahead or delay timing settings in the display interface. If these values are not precisely calibrated, it can cause small strips of skipped areas or unwanted overlaps, undermining the accuracy of the entire precision system.
