Tank mix compatibility
The ability of two or more pesticides or agrochemicals to be mixed in a spray tank without compromising their efficacy or causing crop injury.
Также говорят: pesticide compatibility, tank mix stability, mixture compatibility
Tank mix compatibility allows growers to combine multiple crop protection products or fertilizers in a single spray application. This practice significantly increases operational efficiency, reduces fuel consumption, and limits soil compaction caused by heavy machinery.
Compatibility encompasses both physical and chemical stability. Physical issues, such as flocculation, layering, or clogging, are often visible during mixing, while chemical incompatibility may lead to reduced efficacy or increased phytotoxicity that becomes apparent only after application.
A common error is skipping a small-scale jar test when trying new product combinations or using poor quality water. Furthermore, failing to follow the correct mixing sequence—typically starting with water-soluble powders and finishing with emulsifiable concentrates—often leads to stability failures.
