Geopositioning is the cornerstone of precision agriculture, allowing all agronomic operations to be tied to specific geographic coordinates. It enables tractors and self-propelled sprayers to follow predefined paths with minimal overlap or skipped areas.

This technology is essential for sowing, fertilization, and crop protection applications. Utilizing these systems significantly reduces the consumption of fuel, seeds, and chemicals by eliminating duplicate passes at turns and field edges.

Common errors include neglecting regular calibration of navigation hardware and operating with an insufficient number of visible satellites. It is also critical to account for signal drift, which can cause row misalignment during subsequent passes across the field throughout the season.
