Organic fertilizers
These are naturally occurring materials that provide essential nutrients to plants while improving soil structure and promoting beneficial microbial activity.

Organic fertilizers are primarily used to enhance soil fertility, enrich the humus content, and improve long-term nutrient availability. By enriching the soil structure, they increase water retention and aeration, creating a healthier environment for plant roots to develop effectively.
The standard practice involves incorporating organic matter into the soil during the autumn season, allowing sufficient time for decomposition before the growing cycle begins. When applied directly in planting holes during spring, only fully composted or well-aged materials should be used to prevent root burn or nitrogen tie-up.
A common mistake is applying fresh manure directly to growing crops, which can introduce harmful pathogens or cause ammonia toxicity. Furthermore, applying excessive amounts can lead to nutrient leaching and an imbalance in soil chemistry; therefore, doses should be adjusted according to soil testing results.
