Common sneezeweed (Helenium autumnale) is a perennial herb belonging to the Asteraceae family. While often recognized as an ornamental plant in gardens, it acts as a persistent weed in agricultural landscapes, particularly in wetlands, pastures, and low-lying crop fields, where its aggressive growth habit can displace desirable vegetation.

This species is native to North America and typically colonizes moist environments such as riverbanks, floodplains, and poorly drained soils. In a farming context, it creates competition for moisture and nutrients, especially in crops that require similar conditions, significantly reducing field productivity if left unmanaged.
