This species is a hybrid of Populus nigra and Populus deltoides, which combines the desirable traits of both parents to produce high-quality timber and rapid biomass accumulation, making it a staple for commercial forestry plantations.
Botanically, the tree is characterized by its significant height, often reaching 30-40 meters, and its robust trunk. The leaves are typically triangular or deltoid with serrated margins. The tree exhibits a strong apical dominance, resulting in a straight, tall bole which is highly valued for industrial applications. Its extensive root system allows for stability and efficient uptake of nutrients and moisture from the deep soil layers.
