Gray birch

The gray birch (Betula populifolia Marshall) is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree belonging to the Betulaceae family. It is widely recognized for its unique triangular, tapered leaves and its striking white, non-peeling bark. Unlike the paper birch, the gray birch is frequently found in clusters and serves as a significant ecological component in North American forests.

The species is native to northeastern North America, ranging from the Atlantic provinces of Canada to the northeastern United States.
