Limeum fenestratum is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Limeaceae family, known for its extreme resilience in arid environments. This species is native to the desert and semi-desert regions of Southern Africa, where it has evolved to withstand long-term water scarcity and high-temperature conditions that typical crops cannot tolerate.

The distribution of this plant is primarily focused on sandy and rocky terrains in Namibia and surrounding countries. It functions as a specialized xerophyte, meaning its physiological structures are optimized to minimize transpiration and maximize water storage, allowing it to survive in the harsh, dry climate of the Kalahari and adjacent landscapes.

Botanically, Limeum fenestratum displays succulent characteristics with fleshy, thickened leaves that act as water reservoirs.
