The plant originates from the Eurasian continent, where it is distributed across various climatic zones, from the Mediterranean to temperate regions of Siberia. It thrives in open, disturbed habitats and can quickly colonize cultivated fields, competing for essential nutrients and moisture, especially during the early growth stages of spring crops.
