Swiss spikemoss (Selaginella helvetica) is a perennial spore-bearing plant belonging to the Selaginellaceae family. In agronomy and professional gardening, it is considered a unique decorative foliage culture, prized for its dense, moss-like appearance and its ability to thrive in controlled environments.

Originating from regions across Europe and Asia, this plant naturally inhabits damp, shady woodlands and the banks of mountain streams. Its distribution area is closely tied to areas with high humidity and consistent precipitation, which allows the plant to maintain its physiological balance throughout the year.

Botanically, it features prostrate or ascending stems covered with small, scale-like leaves. Its root system is delicate and requires a specific soil composition to thrive.
