Common cordgrass (Spartina anglica) is a robust, perennial grass belonging to the Poaceae family. It is a sterile hybrid that evolved through polyploidy, resulting in a species with exceptional salt tolerance and the ability to thrive in intertidal zones where few other plants can survive.

Originating from the United Kingdom, this species has been introduced globally to stabilize coastal regions.
