This pathogen is a parasitic fungus that develops primarily on the bark and wood of deciduous trees, leading to white rot processes within the host tissues.
This pathogen mainly affects various deciduous tree species, including those of the Quercus (oak) genus and other forest trees. Within forest ecosystems, it typically colonizes weakened or damaged areas of trunks and branches, utilizing the host's resources to develop its fruiting bodies.
Symptoms of the infection appear as distinct, effused fruiting bodies on the bark surface. These typically resemble rounded or confluent discoid formations that are creamy to white in color.
