Arachnion lloydianum is a species of puffball fungus belonging to the Agaricaceae family. Despite being occasionally misidentified in agricultural literature as a plant disease, it is strictly a saprotrophic organism. It does not possess the biological mechanisms to infect or damage living plant tissues, meaning it poses zero risk to crops or agricultural production.

As a saprotroph, its primary biological function is the decomposition of dead organic matter. This classifies it as a decomposer rather than a pathogen. By breaking down plant debris, twigs, and leaf litter, it aids in nutrient cycling, releasing essential minerals back into the soil matrix where they can be uptake by living plants, thus supporting soil fertility.

Symptoms of its presence are entirely visual and restricted to the soil surface or organic mulch. Small, globose fruiting bodies emerge under favorable moisture conditions.
