The organism belongs to the order Orbiliales. Biologically, it functions as an active predator, developing complex networks of adhesive hyphal loops. These structures are coated with a sticky substance designed to trap, penetrate, and digest plant-parasitic nematodes found in the soil.

This fungus targets a wide range of destructive nematodes, including root-knot, stem, and cyst-forming species. It is particularly effective in the root zone of vulnerable crops such as potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and various ornamental plants, both in greenhouse settings and open fields.

The fungus spreads most effectively in soils rich in organic matter, where established mycelium suppresses pest populations before they can damage plant root systems.
