Their biological profile is characterized by the production of motile zoospores, which utilize flagella to navigate through water to locate and infect host tissues.
The causative agents of these infections are primitive fungal organisms that engage in parasitic or saprophytic behavior. The resulting disease involves the rapid colonization of plant tissues, leading to cell wall degradation and tissue necrosis. Because these pathogens are aquatic by nature, they do not rely on wind for dispersal, but rather on the movement of contaminated water within the crop field or irrigation infrastructure.
