The primary hosts of this pathogen are plants belonging to the Pandanus genus (screw pines). It is frequently observed in greenhouse environments or indoor settings where the specific tropical microclimate parameters are poorly regulated or maintained.

The primary symptoms include the development of irregular, brown-to-black necrotic spots on the leaves. As the infection progresses, these lesions expand, and small dark fruiting bodies (pycnidia) become visible on the leaf surface, indicating active spore production.
