The fungus acts as a biological decomposer of complex organic compounds, specifically lignin and cellulose. Unlike crop-threatening pathogens that possess specialized haustoria to invade living plant cells, this species exclusively colonizes dead and decaying wood. Therefore, it lacks the parasitic machinery required to infect agricultural plants, making it a harmless component of the environment.
