This pathogen primarily targets fleshy fruits and crops with high sugar content, such as tomatoes, strawberries, grapes, and various stone fruits. It is particularly dangerous in post-harvest environments where damaged skin on the produce provides an entry point for the fungus to colonize and initiate a rapid decay process, leading to the total loss of marketable goods.

These conditions enable the fungus to thrive and spread rapidly through stored produce or dense crop canopies.
