It is important to clarify that Cantharellaceae (Chanterelles) is not a plant disease. In mycological and agricultural science, this group is classified as beneficial mycorrhizal fungi that establish symbiotic relationships with the root systems of various forest trees.

The biological nature of these fungi is purely mutualistic, known as ectomycorrhiza. They colonize the outer surface of plant roots, facilitating nutrient exchange. The fungus provides the host tree with essential minerals and water, while the tree supplies the fungus with photosynthetically derived carbohydrates.

Since they are symbiotic organisms, they do not cause diseases such as root rot, lesions, or necrosis in agricultural crops. There are no clinical symptoms of infection, as the presence of the fungus is actually beneficial for the host plant's general health and resilience.

Environmental conditions for development are strictly linked to humidity and the presence of suitable tree hosts like oak, pine, or beech. They thrive in undisturbed forest soils with specific microclimatic conditions, which are usually not present in intensive field crop systems.

From an agronomical standpoint, no control or prophylactic measures are required, as these fungi pose zero threat to plant health. They play a significant role in forest ecology by stabilizing the soil and enhancing tree vigor, functioning as a vital component of the natural ecosystem rather than a biological pest.
