Cereal crops, such as wheat, barley, and oats, are the most susceptible to this infection. The pathogen can affect plants at various stages of growth, although its impact is often most devastating during the tillering and stem elongation phases, significantly reducing yield quality.

Symptoms often manifest as yellowing of the lower leaves, followed by wilting that spreads upwards through the plant.
