Symptoms typically begin as small, circular, or irregular spots on the leaves. These spots usually appear brown or tan, often bordered by a darker halo. As the infection progresses, the centers of the spots may dry out and become brittle, while at high humidity levels, a fine grayish mat of fungal mycelium and spores becomes visible on the leaf surface.

Environmental conditions play a critical role in the epidemiology of the disease. Cercospora peckiana thrives in high-humidity environments, poor air circulation, and warm temperatures ranging between 20°C and 25°C. Spores are primarily disseminated by water splashes, air currents, and handling, making it a persistent issue in greenhouse environments.

The economic and aesthetic impact of the disease is significant. The infection causes premature leaf yellowing and senescence, which drastically reduces the photosynthetic capacity of the violet. Left untreated, the fungus can lead to defoliation, stunted growth, and a severe reduction in flowering quality, eventually jeopardizing the entire plant's survival.
