Ceriporia reticulata is a wood-decaying basidiomycete fungus known for causing white rot in various tree species. This fungus functions primarily as a saprotroph, but it can act as a pathogen on stressed or wounded trees, progressively breaking down the structural components of the wood, such as lignin and cellulose, which eventually compromises the tree's health and stability.

The host range of Ceriporia reticulata includes various broad-leaved trees, such as oak, beech, and birch, as well as several fruit-bearing species. The fungus typically enters the woody tissue through wounds caused by pruning, wind damage, or frost cracks, allowing the mycelium to establish itself within the host and begin its destructive process.

Key symptoms of an infestation include the visible presence of thin, resupinate, whitish or cream-colored fruit bodies on the bark or wood surface. Internally, the wood becomes bleached, soft, and fibrous.
