Clasterosphaeria is a fungal plant disease caused by ascomycete fungi within the genus Clasterosphaeria. This pathogen is considered a significant threat to various woody plants and shrubs, disrupting their physiological functions and causing severe damage to the vascular and surface tissues of the host organism.

The primary host range includes various ornamental woody species and members of the Rosaceae family. The pathogen infects the host by infiltrating bark tissues, branches, and leaves, typically entering through wounds caused by weather, insects, or pruning, after which the mycelium colonizes the internal plant tissues and begins to disrupt nutrient flow.

Typical symptoms of the infection include the development of localized necrotic lesions, bark dieback, shoot cracking, and premature wilting of foliage. As the disease progresses, the fungal fruiting bodies become visible as small dark structures on the affected surface, indicating the maturity of the pathogen and the subsequent release of spores into the environment.

High humidity, moderate temperatures, and the presence of free water on plant surfaces are the primary factors that facilitate the rapid development and spread of the disease. Infections frequently flare up during prolonged rainy seasons or in environments with poor air circulation, such as overly dense plantings or areas with restricted ventilation, which allow the spores to germinate successfully.

The impact of this disease ranges from reduced plant vigor and growth stunting to the total mortality of branches or the entire plant. To mitigate the risks and protect plant health, the following management strategies are recommended:
