The pathogens typically develop in moist, nutrient-rich soils. Their biological cycle is characterized by the production of basidiospores that facilitate spread during wet weather. In such conditions, the pathogen spreads rapidly through the soil matrix, potentially affecting neighboring plants if preventative measures are not taken.

Key practices include improving site drainage, maintaining proper spacing to ensure airflow, and the use of fungicides if an outbreak is identified. Routine inspection of root zones and removal of infected debris are essential to limit the population of the pathogen and protect long-term crop yields.
