Soybean anthracnose, caused by the fungal pathogen Colletotrichum sojae, is a destructive disease that significantly impacts soybean production globally. The fungus thrives by attacking various stages of plant growth, potentially affecting seedlings, stems, leaves, and pods, thereby hindering the development of the host plant throughout the growing season.

Symptoms of the disease typically manifest as dark brown or black lesions on stems and pods. In humid conditions, these lesions become covered with small, black, hair-like structures known as acervuli, which produce spores.
