The fungus does not act as a causal agent for diseases. Instead, it forms a mantle around tree roots, known as ectomycorrhiza, which aids in the nutrient uptake process. This symbiosis is highly beneficial for the vitality and drought resistance of forest trees such as pine, spruce, and birch.
