In reality, this fungus exists in a symbiotic relationship with trees, primarily birch, and poses no threat to the vitality of the host plant. It does not possess any pathogenic traits that would lead to plant tissue necrosis or decay.
The organism acts as a beneficial partner rather than a causative agent of disease. Its mycelium forms a network around the root tips of the tree, increasing the surface area for water and nutrient uptake. This exchange of minerals for sugars is a fundamental ecological process that supports forest productivity, making it the opposite of a plant-pathogenic infection.
There are no symptoms of infection to be observed on the host plants associated with this fungus. The trees remain healthy, and their foliage, bark, and root systems function normally. The presence of the fungus is strictly limited to the soil and the interface with the roots, where it operates in harmony with the host tree's biological requirements.
