This pathogen impacts a broad spectrum of hosts, including forest seedlings, orchard fruit trees, and various ornamental species. It is particularly problematic in nurseries and intensive farming systems where plants are exposed to high moisture and restricted air circulation in the root zone.

Initial symptoms include the discoloration of roots, often turning brown or black, followed by the decay of cortical tissues.
