Dasturella divina is a species of rust fungus that acts as an obligate parasite on various plant hosts, primarily within the bamboo group. This pathogen is categorized within the Pucciniales order, known for their complex life cycles and specific host-pathogen interactions that can lead to severe damage in botanical collections and nurseries.

The primary hosts for this fungus include different species of bamboo (Bambusoideae). Because these plants are often grown in dense clusters, the conditions for the spread of Dasturella divina are highly favorable. The pathogen exploits the plant's metabolic resources, drawing nutrients directly from the cellular tissue of the leaves.

Symptoms of the infection typically appear on the abaxial (lower) surface of the leaves. Infected areas show clusters of uredinia, which develop into visible, powdery pustules. These pustules rupture the leaf epidermis, releasing golden-yellow or brown spores that spread through the air to colonize neighboring healthy tissues.

High humidity levels, combined with warm temperatures ranging between 18°C and 25°C, promote spore germination and fungal growth.
