Didymosphaeria blight is a fungal disease caused by various species within the Didymosphaeria genus, which are members of the Ascomycota division. These fungi function as pathogens that infect the stems, leaves, and sometimes fruit of diverse plant hosts, leading to characteristic necrotic lesions.
The disease affects a wide range of botanical species, including fruit trees and berry bushes, where it can cause significant stress. The pathogen typically establishes itself in the plant tissues, feeding on organic matter and disrupting the vascular system if the infection is severe enough.
