The host range of this fungus primarily encompasses pine (Pinus) and spruce (Picea) species. In the forest ecosystem, it acts as a silent destroyer, penetrating the xylem and utilizing stored sugars and other nutrients, which disrupts the tree’s water transport systems and overall vitality.
