Epicoccum blight is a fungal disease affecting a wide range of plants, caused by the pathogen Epicoccum henningsii (often associated with Epicoccum nigrum). As an opportunistic pathogen, this fungus thrives on weakened plant tissues and can infect numerous agricultural, horticultural, and ornamental species globally.

The fungus typically colonizes leaves, stems, and fruits, particularly as plants approach maturity. Infection usually begins through natural surface openings or small wounds in the plant cuticle. While it is often considered a secondary invader, under favorable environmental conditions, it can act as a primary pathogen, leading to significant physiological stress in the host plant.
