The characteristic symptoms include the appearance of mycelial mats on the upper and lower surfaces of leaves. This white, powdery substance creates a distinct coating, eventually causing leaves to curl, yellow, and suffer from reduced vitality as the fungus extracts nutrients through haustoria.
