Fibulobasidium is a genus of fungi belonging to the order Cystofilobasidiales that can act as a pathogen for various plant species. Although it is less common than major field crop blights, it represents a significant interest in phytopathology due to its ability to inhabit plant tissues and affect the physiological health of the host.

The type of disease caused by Fibulobasidium is generally characterized as a fungal infection that interferes with photosynthesis and nutrient uptake. The pathogen colonizes the surface of leaves and stems, and in susceptible plants, it can penetrate deeper layers, leading to the disruption of cellular integrity and weakened vigor.

Chemical control, including the application of fungicides, is recommended if threshold levels of infection are exceeded. Monitoring and early detection remain the most effective ways to mitigate the risk of a full-scale outbreak.
