Fusarium bostrycoides is a pathogenic fungus belonging to the Fusarium genus, recognized as a significant causative agent of various plant diseases, including root rot, vascular wilt, and tuber necrosis. This pathogen has a broad host range, particularly affecting starchy root crops like yam (Dioscorea species), as well as various cereals and vegetables. The fungus typically invades through existing wounds or natural openings in the plant's root system, making crops in vulnerable environments highly susceptible to colonization and subsequent rot.
