Fusarium sulawesiense is a fungal pathogen belonging to the diverse Fusarium genus, known for causing significant vascular and root-related diseases in a variety of plant hosts. As a soil-borne organism, it is capable of surviving for extended periods in crop debris and soil matrices, utilizing chlamydospores to endure unfavorable environmental conditions until a susceptible host is identified.

The host range of this pathogen primarily includes tropical and horticultural crops, often affecting those grown under intensive management systems. By infiltrating the xylem vessels, the fungus disrupts the plant's hydraulic conductivity, leading to rapid decline in both yield quantity and quality, which poses a serious economic threat to growers.
