This pathogen affects a broad spectrum of crops, including cereals, legumes, and various vegetables. It typically attacks the root system first, eventually spreading through the xylem and disrupting the vascular transport system, which leads to physiological stress in the infected plants.

Symptoms of the infection include yellowing of the lower leaves, progressive wilting, and stunted growth. Infected plants often show characteristic browning or reddening of the internal tissues in the root and crown area, which serves as a definitive sign of vascular colonization by the pathogen.
