Gamszarea wallacei is a specialized microscopic phytoparasitic nematode known for causing severe root-knot disease in various agricultural crops. As an endoparasite, it penetrates the root tissues, inducing the formation of characteristic galls or knots that severely disrupt the plant's vascular system. This pathogen represents a significant challenge in modern plant protection, especially in intensive greenhouse production systems.
The host range of this nematode includes a wide variety of vegetable crops, such as tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers, as well as several industrial and ornamental plants.
